Directions

We look forward to your visit! You can find us here.

You can reach Darmstadt via the freeways A5 (from Frankfurt/M. or Heidelberg/Basel) and A67 (from Cologne/Wiesbaden or Mannheim), which intersect 3 km west of the city at the Darmstadt freeway junction. The TUD locations “Stadtmitte” (seat of the chair “Information Systems & Electronic Services”) and “Lichtwiese” are well signposted throughout the city. After leaving the highway in the direction of Darmstadt, follow the Rheinstraße in the direction of the city center. You drive straight ahead into the Cityring-Tunnel. After turning right in the tunnel, turn left into Hügelstraße at the end of the tunnel. To get to the TUD location “Stadtmitte” (Building S1|03), turn left again into Kirchstraße at the next traffic lights. At the next major intersection, go straight ahead again, the Darmstadt Castle is then on your left. Continue on the City-Ring, past the Darmstadtium and the Technical University (keep right) until you reach the entrance to the parking garage “Schlossgarage/Karolinenplatz”. In the parking garage, it is best to orient yourself to the exit of the “Welcome Hotel”. Here you can pay your parking fees either at the machine or at the reception later.

Darmstadt is an ICE station and stop for IC, EC and Interregio trains in north-south traffic. Darmstadt is connected to the railroad lines Frankfurt/Main-Heidelberg and Mannheim, Wiesbaden/Mainz-Aschaffenburg and Darmstadt-Erbach and Eberbach (Odenwald). To get to the city center, you can take the bus lines H (direction Kranichstein Kesselhutweg / Alfred-Messel-Weg) and K (direction TU-Lichtwiese) or the streetcar line (direction Lichtenbergschule) from the main station to the “Schloss” stop. Alternatively you can go to the stop “Willy-Brandt-Platz”.

The Frankfurt airport is 25 km away and can be reached in about 20 minutes by car via the A5. With the shuttle bus “HEAG-Airliner” you can reach the city center of Darmstadt (Luisenplatz) comfortably and without a car.
